Oru Maalai ILaveyil Naeram

orumaalai_gajini_m...

at last...the torture begins :D :P - this was my best out of no less than 11 attempts(am sick of the song now!!) at singing this song! so you can imagine :P -i think i have yelled a little(well... :P) in this song.

Let me know what you think.

Its really really good! It takes a lot to put it up here and it is definitely worth it!
two things i noticed:
1) the classical touch at some places. the brugha can be avoided in these kind of songs if you know what i mean!
2) the high pitches where you have restrained your voice. let it flow freely and sing from your gut instead from the throat! :P it would sound more authentic! atleast this is what i think.

Amazing attempt and is definitely better than amateurish!

Harini- thank you! yeah, i decided to brave the storm :P

1. I kind of understood what you mean after a bit of google search. it was a bit too technical for me :D -point well taken.
2. Absolutely with you on this one. This is not how i sing generally when i sing just a couple of lines in high pitch, without any preceding or succeeding lines. The main problem i faced was that of holding my breath through the entire song. I haven't sung a full song non-stop in years. I think i need to do a lot of regular practice to achieve that. Am hoping to, in the coming weeks.

Thanks again!

Hey..nice surprise...gud work,ram..keep us blasted..:)
I agree with Harini on the classical touch and restraint..
just a small tip, more than singing from ur gut, open up ur mouth or rather throat..simple exercise sollatuma..oru swara like S or P and keep it going open mouth for few seconds..'veezhvenyena nianithayo'la open mouth padikara..try singing like that..ur voice will come out bold..:)
actually,i like the huskiness in the lower tones..:)

Better luck next time :)
Btw did you undergo any training in classical music?

Ram said...

Rajeev- thanks :) - technically, the answer is yes. i was taught carnatic music for 7 years. whether i learnt any of it or not is an entirely different question! :P -Easily one of the top three stupid things i have done in my life so far...not learning it properly. :(
